As we embark into a new age of space travel, virtual photo mosaic is part of the historic mission. The mosaic displaying a photo of the Earth was flown into the International Space Station with NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft Endeavour. The interactive virtual photo mosaic features photos of Class of 2020 graduates from across the world who submitted their photos. It represents the global unity that comes with space travel.

After most in person 2020 graduations had been cancelled, SpaceX had submitted an open call to students all levels of education to submit their photos to the mosaic. The final version of the mosaic was then printed out to carry onboard of Endeavour.

The historic mission launched from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center on Saturday, May 30th. Behnken and Hurley are expected to remain on board the space station for the next one to three months or a maximum of 110 days total. SpaceX has been diligently working towards this moment since 2002. This mission demonstrates a significant step towards NASA’s ambitions to put people on the moon in 2024.
